ORBCOMM is a mobile satellite service provider offering low-cost, two-way message and data communications globally. The network consists of a constellation of Low Earth Orbiting (LEO) satellites providing world wide, low cost, 2 way data communication. The network is optimized for short term messaging such as periodic status and exception reporting. Information can be routed back to a head office through a variety of network options including the Internet, commercial X.25 and X.400. The network can also pass messages and data from one to another Transceiver in the world. A total constellation of 36 satellites can provide customers the ability to send and receive short messages anywhere on earth at a very low cost.
