The Thrane & Thrane Capsat Gateway for MS-Mail provides easy and quick access to the Inmarsat-C system by connecting your internal electronic mail system (MS-Mail) to Thrane & Thrane Land Earth Stations (LES). The Capsat Gateway program runs under Windows on a PC and uses either the X.25 network or the Public Switched Telephone Network. Local and remote MS-Mail users can exchange messages with Inmarsat-C mobile users as easy as they do with users connected to their own LAN. A MS-Mail user sends a message to a Capsat transceiver using exactly the same procedure he would use when sending to anyone directly connected to the mail network. A user of a Capsat transceiver directs a message to the MS-Mail network by including a "TO:" field in his message header containing the network name (alias) of the user he wants to address. The Capsat Gateway is either delivered as a stand alone unit (PC with installed software) or as a software package, where the customer can install the Capsat Gateway on one of his spare PCs. The Capsat Gateway provides a local MailBox service, where a message sent from a MS-Mail user will be stored on the LAN, until the Inmarsat-C mobile user sends a "request for mail". All information regarding interface to the LESs are configurable (LES Name, LES X.25 or PSTN number, User name, Password, etc.). Received and transmitted message records can be logged to a file and/or to a printer
